Lake Shore Gold drills turn up more gold
Lake Shore Gold Corp. improved its hopes for a second mining operation to accompany its Timmins Mine in the Timmins camp after results from nearly 12,600 metres of drilling came back golden.
The majority of the work was performed at the Bell Creek Mine, where 14 holes and three wedge holes spanning 9,273 metres tested areas below and east of the historic resource. Key results include 6.76 grams per tonne (gpt) gold over 6.1 metres, and 7.9 gpt gold over 5.95 metres.
Drilling at Vogel included two holes and four wedge holes over 3,320 metres, and returned similarly positive results such as 22.5 gpt gold over a metre. Such results are 150 west of prior results, suggesting a new vein system at depth.
Underground exploration occurring across the two sites includes de-watering the Bell Creek shaft and rehabilitating existing mine workings. Also, a ramp designed to support underground diamond drilling has been advanced 215 metres, while the Bell Creek shaft has been de-watered to the 60-metre level.
