Several eastern Kentucky mines were recently cited for failing to submit an emergency plan to federal mining officials.

Mines in Harlan, Bell, Floyd, Magoffin, Letcher and Pike Counties were all cited.

Under the Miner act of 2006, all underground mines were required to submit their plans to MSHA by June 15th.

The legislation also requires mines to have wireless communication or some alternate means of getting in contact with miners.

The following mines were cited.
• D and C Mining Corporation - Harlan County
• PPG Energy - Bell County
• Butcher Branch - Bell County
• Murriel Don Coal Company Inc. - Floyd County
• Double C Enterprises Inc. - Magoffin County
• C and D Mining Inc. - Floyd County
• TRC Mining Company - Letcher County
• Cane Branch Coal LLC - Pike County
• Clark Mining Inc. - Letcher County
