VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Jul 21, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) --
Capella Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: KPS)(PINK SHEETS: CPSJF) ("Capella" or the "Company") reports on the results of its Nevada gold-copper project in northern Chile where four drill holes were completed during April and May 2009 totalling 910 meters.
The drilling intersected gold and copper mineralization with peak assay values of 0.61grams per tonne (gpt) Au and .33% Cu. Numerous zones of gold and copper mineralization were intersected in the drill holes with values for gold generally below 0.10 gpt and copper under 0.03%. Anomalous gold and copper values are generally correlated to sulphide content, principally pyrite and to a lesser degree chalcopyrite, hosted in argillically altered intermediate tuff and agglomerate, and basalt. To date, the drilling on the Nevada Project has yet to locate the porphyry intrusive body suggested by the alteration of the wall rock.
Drill hole NV09001 was completed to a depth of 256 meters with NV09002 reaching a depth of 305 meters. Drill hole NV09003 penetrated to a depth of 132 meters when in-hole conditions degraded and caused the hole to be prematurely shut down. NV09004 was completed to 218 meters.
The drill program tested a combination of magnetic and induced polarization (IP) geophysical anomalies coincident with intensely altered outcrops. The drill program at Nevada is expected to be restarted in October to continue the search for the undiscovered porphyry body indicated by the observed alteration, which at Caspiche Project hosts gold and copper mineralization.
The Company holds a 100% interest in the Nevada Gold Project subject to a 5% net smelter return royalty. The project consists of seven exploration and exploitation claims comprising approximately 1,900 hectares. Access to the Nevada gold-copper property is by all-weather gravel and paved roads from Copiapo, approximately 160 kilometres to the west. The Nevada gold-copper project drill area lies approximately 10 kilometres south of Kinross's Maricunga gold mine (formerly the Refugio gold mine) and six kilometres north of Exeter's Caspiche gold-copper project.
Three, relatively short, drill holes were completed in the early 1990's by Minera Mount Isa Chile S.A. on the Nevada gold-copper property yielding sporadic gold mineralization.
