RE: Stockhouse Posts

RE: Stockhouse PostsI find it curious that you felt in the pre upgrade Stockhouse it seemed obvious that the number of readers was inflated by a factor of 9.  How about it was a programming feature to only update the number of readers after every 9 readers?  I too was curious about that and in the pre upgrade Stockhouse I added a second profile.  I logged in under both and read the same post only to discover that the number of reads did not change.  That seemed to indicate to me that the number only jumped every 9 reads.

As to the number of reads now being 100 to 200 so maybe they are now multiplying the number of readers and adding a factor, I don't subscribe to that kind of conspiracy theory.  I for one do not post very often.  Over the years according to my profile I have read roughly 44,000 posts but only posted about 210 times.  That is a ratio of approximately 210 to 1.  Multiply that by your roughly 20 posters and that would translate into 4,200 "lurkers" as you call us.  Maybe the ratio doesn't translate but you get my drift.  Considering the number of users on the internet and the number of members on this web site I find it odd that the number of readers is so low.  Maybe most users don't bother with the boards.  I would think that if Stockhouse wanted to manipulate the numbers so as to be able to have "look at how active our boards are" bragging rights they would have a much higher number than what we see.  Also, if Stockhouse was doing that and they got caught, what do you think that would do to their reputation as well as their relationships with their advertisers?  If I was Stockhouse it wouldn't be worth it.

Cheers.
