  Acquired Uranium Properties In Niger

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, August 5, 2009– The Board of Directors of Cooper Minerals Inc. (TSX-Venture: CQ)(“Cooper” or the “Company”) are pleased to report on the acquisition oftwo uranium properties in the country Niger in west Africa. Niger isthe 6th largest uranium producing country in the world and it hosts twoof the world’s ten largest uranium mines.

The twouranium properties, the Batalene 1 and 2, have a combined area of 974square kilometers. Both properties have been granted as ExplorationLicences by the Nigerien Ministry of Mines and Energy valid up to endMarch 2012. The Batalene Prospects are located 60 km northwest (NW) ofthe town of Arlit.

The prospects are located within the Paleozoic fringe, stratigraphically located between the Carboniferous and PermianPeriods. Most of the surface is covered by the Carboniferous UpperTagora - (Somair U deposit stratigraphy) and younger, overlying PermianIzeguandane Series. Both prospects have a similar geological setting tothat of the nearby Somair and Cominak (AREVA) uranium mines. Acorrelation in age, sedimentary setting, structural relations, oreminerals as well as reducing agents is evident between sandstone hostedU mineralisation in Niger, Karoo (South Africa), Colorado (U.S.A.) andKazakhstan.

The Company has carried out a Remote Sensing target generation programby applying the Geological Model to the Batalene Prospects. The resultsof this study are being evaluated prior to designing an explorationprogram to evaluate the uranium potential of the properties.

Simon Tam, President states “We are pleased to have acquired a verylarge land position in an underexplored country which is a very largeuranium producer. The Company’s strategy is to search out propertieswith world class potential”

Mike Magrum, P.Eng., a qualified person under National Instrument43-101, has approved the technical content of this news release.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,
