you are right on! The ONLY reason I invest $$$ in a REIT is for distributions.
I have a balanced portfolio of REITs, GICs and Mutual Funds......my 100% secure GIC re giving me a blazing 4% average !!!
WRK as you say is at present market 18%++, I do not give a flying fig, about any of the other drama, which people can dream up.
Listen to the management presentation, cosult someone in the tax business and make a decision, as simple as that.
I like your words "very simple", because this is a no brinier and very simple...some people for unknown reasons choose to complicate things.
The only reason the yeild is so high, is because of that very fear you speak of.
The price went up a bit this week becuase of the recent deal..and will do so again on their next deal.
At 18.5% ( preent yield), you get your investement back in 4 years.
They have a 7 year average term on the loans they have. My safety margin is greater than theirs.
