The CDN Close Combat Vechicle Procurement by DND is moving very fast as reported by the Ottawa Citizen Defence Watch today!
The race is on for the Close Combat Vehicle and the project is moving at full-tilt.
Industry is supposed to respond to the letter of interest (LOI) by Aug. 25. Some companies asked for slight extensions on that but were turned down flat. Strangely, requests to extend the response time for the LOI on the TAPV project had been approved. But not for CCV.
The reason why?
I’m told the CCV project is seen as the most contentious of the future armored vehicle purchases, with questions already being asked in some government quarters about what these vehicles would be used for since Canada is pulling out of Afghanistan in 2011.
So DND wants to get this rolling and a contract signed while the Harper government still remains in power.
The Solicitation of Interest and Qualifications for CCV will be released in September and a request for proposals in November
