RE: RE: RE: Oshkosh wins another...opportunity forThis is part of the FMTV (Family of Medium Tactical Vechicles) program which is basically quite a few variants of military trucks. This is where Oshkosh's expertise lies and I believe they have close to 90% of the US military truck business.
Cymat could possibly be involved and benefit in the armor panels for the Truck cab and for a subset of these types of vechicles requiring the added protection and have been built to support the additional weight (suspensions etc). Obviously a subset of these trucks will need to have good cab blast protection. According to some of the web sites the military has a LTAS program (Long-term Armor Strategy) and with the FMTV program as well as other programs the military has different armor specifcations and requirements. In the FMTV case they have vechicles that would be built to support different armor kits, the A-Kit and B-Kits.
You have to remember that vechicles are being built to specifications and some will need to be able to have armor added or removed with various manufactures providing the armor panels to the military specifications. Any OEM could be asked to provide the applicable armor to the specifications, and they do that today. We know that Cymat is involved in 4 of the top 7 next gen (new) vechicle bids and Tim has been quoted that they want to be involved with all 7. The FMTV trucks are heavy to begin with so lightweight armor would be desirable. IMO, Cymat being involved now with 4 of top 7 and testing various armor panels could mean if successful, they could become part of a new standard that could be applicable to a wide range of military vechicles that require armor protection with a number of OEMs. So this means they could be directly involved with Oshkosh or indirectly with an armor partner, or at the vary least should be making sales pitches to get involved.
