Dear Reader,

Falklands oil penny shares jump on rig news
- There’s big movement today at AIM-listed Desire Petroleum plc (ticker: DES), the exploration company focusing on the North Falkland Basin.
- Desire has announced it has exchanged a letter of intent with Diamond Offshore Drilling (UK) Ltd. This is to use Diamond’s Ocean Guardian drilling unit to undertake a four well minimum drilling campaign in the North Falkland Basin.
- The Ocean Guardian is currently in the North Sea and following a programme of shipyard work will mobilise in November 2009. Projected arrival in Falkland waters is early February 2010.
- Desire has options to drill a further four wells for itself and or its partners. Further details will be announced after contract completion which is subject to various approvals.
- Share prices of various Falklands oil tiddlers have risen today on this exciting new development: Desire (DES) + 34%, Falkland Oil & Gas (FOGL) +16%, Falkland Island Holdings (FKL) +19% and Rockhopper Exploration (RKH) +36%.
500% return for investors in this ‘green’ small cap
- I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but there’s a little green droplet logo on some plastic bags that denotes the fact that they are biodegradable. Well the company behind this, Symphony Environmental Technologies (ticker: SYM), has announced a 60% increase in revenues and swing from loss to profit.
- Symphony is proving to be a success story amongst ‘green’ companies – the share price is up 500% in the last six months.
There’s no doubt about it. Kurdistan contains oceans of oil. Hopefully, you were among the readers of my newsletter, Red Hot Penny Shares, that made many hundreds of percent returns on Gulf Keystone (ticker: GKP) when it struck oil there recently.
Well now the hunt is on for the next get-rich-with-oil Kurdistan strike. With few foreign companies willing to risk the wrath of the Baghdad government, the number of candidates is small. But penny share aficionados have alighted.
