Takes a village to raise a child

Takes a village to raise a childMr. Village is chairman of Banro Corp., a position he has held since 2004. Prior to this, he was a managing director, World Gold Council, and a founder of Exchange Traded Gold, responsible for developing and managing a series of direct physical gold investment products that have revolutionized the dynamics of the gold industry. Previous to this, he was a managing director with HSBC, responsible for global mining based out of London, U.K., and also head of HSBC's South African securities business. Mr. Village holds a bachelor of engineering degree from Camborne School of Mines and brings 19 years of gold industry and investment experience to the company. The company has also appointed Martin Jones as vice-president, corporate development. Mr. Jones has held a similar position with Banro since 2004. He has over 25 years of experience in corporate and investor communications. Loncor's chairman, Arnold Kondrat, said: "We are delighted to be making these appointments. Simon continues to play a major role in the successful growth of Banro Corp. and in its transition from a gold explorer to a gold producer in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). His financial and mining expertise, combined with his experience working in the DRC, will be invaluable in helping us to grow Loncor as a gold and platinum exploration company in the DRC. Martin Jones has contributed to Banro's success through his corporate development activities and as head of the charitable Banro Foundation, and we look forward to him playing a similar role with Loncor."
