RE: RE: RE: burntDont take me wrong--I am not trying to bash the company--I am sitting on the fence as to whether i want to buy in.
I have a few problems with your logic.
a)there is a differance between producing something in a lab and building a plant and commercially producing it. There is risk involved. Look at the problems Opti and Nexen are having with their technology at the Long Lake project. I am sure they tested it up the ying yang. Nobody has commercially tested Burcon's process. It is not a sure thing. So you are going to spend 300 million or more buying a company that doesnt produce anything and whose process and product is not a sure thing. Thats a 300million dollar roll of the dice. Is their a better way to spend 300 million?Maybe the money would be better spent coming up with your own process and product. I don't know.
b) ADM sells soy protein right now and they are making money. They have invested many years and millions of dollars developing markets and technologies and customers. Why would they want to pay a pip squeak of a company like Burcon royality on something they already sell.Or why would they want to buy a company to get to the soy protein patents. There would have to be a pretty big motivating factor to spend over 300 million dollars. Why not just come up with a similar but uniquely differannt soy protein isolate of your owm. 300 million buys a lot of research.
c) if the whole package called Burcon was such a sure money making operation why arent people lined up around the corner trying to buy the company
