RE: Dallas may go NG buses

RE: Dallas may go NG busesThe one thing I don't get (and I apologize if this has been discussed prior) is why WPT are considered to be the green option?  The articles says:

"DART board members came under intensive lobbying last winter, when Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert began pushing hard to go with the natural gas buses, even, he said, if it costs millions more than the diesel option. It was a way to send a message about Dallas' embrace of green technology, even though, he and others acknowledged, the new diesel engines perform almost exactly as well -- and as cleanly -- as the natural gas engines."

So, what makes this green technology?  Is it the complete life cycle of natural gas versus diesel?  I realize their would be less foreign reliance on natural gas but that is not a green technology issue.

Thanks for any information.
