This has always been our understanding with regard to drilling/exploration.   It's good to hear it coming from Ecuador.

Correa urges to respect the processes of mining exploration in Ecuador

The president of Equator, Rafael Strap, did today a calling so that the processes of mining exploration in the country be respected in order to that can be known with what resources account this Andean nation. 

 

During its weekly report of works, the head of state assured that the mining exploration has very little environmental impact and aid to know the resources with the ones that counts the nation, but notified that to permit the exploitation, will require that itself present the project detailed in each case. 

 

Likewise, it aimed that to decide on exploitation will expose the project to the communities and will socialize the plans. 

 

The ruler declared that if he detects that the project can affect seriously to the ecosystem, will be the first one in being opposed to the development of the same one and recalled to the natives that can be owners of territories, but the resources of the subsoil belong to the State

 

It emphasized the importance to develop projects that do not affect to the ecosystem, with countries as Venezuela, Korea and Chile, among others.

Correa insta a respetar los procesos de exploración minera en Ecuador

 El presidente de Ecuador, Rafael Correa, hizo hoy un llamamiento para que se respeten los procesos de exploración minera en el país con el fin de que se pueda conocer con qué recursos cuenta esta nación andina.

Durante su informe semanal de labores, el jefe de Estado aseguró que la exploración minera tiene muy poco impacto ambiental y ayuda a conocer los recursos con los que cuenta la nación, pero advirtió de que para permitir la explotación, exigirá que se presente el proyecto detallado en cada caso.

Asimismo, apuntó que para tomar la decisión sobre explotación expondrá el proyecto a las comunidades y socializará los planes.

El gobernante manifestó que si detecta que el proyecto puede afectar seriamente al ecosistema, será el primero en oponerse al desarrollo del mismo y recordó a los indígenas que ellos pueden ser dueños de territorios, pero los recursos del subsuelo le pertenecen al Estado.




Destacó la importancia de desarrollar proyectos que no afectan al ecosistema, con países como Venezuela, Corea y Chile, entre otros.
