LAVAL, Quebec—Neptune Technologies & Bioressources has gained approval for its Neptune Krill Oil (NKO™) extract as a novel food ingredient by the European Commission (EC) for marketing in the European Union (EU). The commission published its decision in the October issue of the Official Journal of the European Union,
Neptune initially filed with Finland government officials for approval to market NKO, a lipid extract from Antarctic Krill Euphausia superb, as a novel food ingredient.
