RE: REE stocks not economical in free market econo

It seems the horse is being put before the cart here. If the market for REE's is huge and there will be an ever increasing demand for them, then one way or another the REE exploration companies we have been investing in will benefit. If China can produce these REE's, then I am sure when the time comes the western world will figure out how to do it likewise, or other companies already in the business of producing will be interested. What am I missing?
