I recall that when the POG was lower, any $10 in gold would move the SP about a buck which is opposite as I would think. Anyone care to interpolate or have I just lost it on this one?"

1) CDN $ is gaining strength, hence the costs are rising in terms of US$
2) Large investors don't think the POG is sustainable. I guess they still believe the US$ will stay strong. For what it's worth here's a link to a very good article on hyper inflation from John Ing. One thought to keep in mind... if/when hyper-inflation hits, look at the political repercussions - the following historical characters came to power: a) Napoleon b) Hitler c) Chairman Mao. This is not for the weak of stomach. If/When the US $ collapses - it will likely lead to widespread chaos and a wish by the people for a strong leader to lead them out of the mess. History does not show many pleasant leaders who attain power in these circumstances.
