Magellan

MagellanFriends of the Esperance Tanker Jetty treasurer, Margaret Rance, and chairman, Barrie Stearne, were pleased to receive over $60,000 for an underwater structural survey of the Esperance Tanker Jetty as part of the Magellan Community Fund in 2009.

In total, ten community programs were funded last year. Project funding ranged from $10,000 used to purchase new equipment for the Esperance Goldfields Surf Lifesaving Club to $50,000 used to build a mobile commercial kitchen for the Restore Hope Foundation Esperance. The underwater study of the Esperance Tanker Jetty is currently in progress and many other programs are already delivering benefits to the community.

Applications for 2010 funding are now available. See the story below for more details on 2010 funding.

Comment:
I received this by email. IVW continues to live up to its obligations to Esperance. I wonder if that town will some day (possibly already) regret that it sent IVW packing when the company was at its low point. If, as hoped, the new shipping method continues to function without problems Esperance has sent a lot of revenue to Fremantle. I also continue to reflect on the 15 cent offer we almost were forced to choke down a few months ago. We certainly dodged a bullet there!
