RE: anticlineThanks for the heads up on that one. Since I've rediscovered the oil patch I have been scrambling to get caught up on all the different plays out there. As if there is not enough happening on the natural gas front with all the different non-conventional stuff, we also have all the heavy oil plays.
I was aware of the Bakken, but the link you gave updates me nicely on a bunch of others and will keep me reading for a while. Thanks and happy holidays to you and yours as well.
PS: I can't read the Diaz 3D seismic, but I suspect they are drilling along a paleosurface i.e. a land surface that existed in the past and is now buried several thousand feet down. The idea being that a sandstone - more resistant rock - would likely form a hill and it would have decent porosity and be a better reservoir. This is where you would want to put that horizontal straw. Of course I am guessing, but I think that may be what they are doing. Lets hope the well is completed soon and flow like the last one.
