RE: IS PEAK OIL REAL?
Actually, Coyotefields, that wasn't my quote of disagreeing with peak oil. That was a post in response to my post in support of peak oil.
My tendency is to believe in the peak oil theory and regardless, as to whether oil and gas reserves do or not, in this century run out, I agree with your view of costs to society monetarily.
Fossil fuels will surpass the price of solar by multitudes of numbers in the near future. How is it not possible? Oil will be used in the future for purposes other than power production, transportation and heating. That's my belief.
It is also the obvious belief of the majority of countries in the world at this moment, demonstrated by countries such as India and China who are placing great investments into the future of solar.
They have never been known to have concern for the environment. I am certain that they are fully aware of what is going to happen with oil and gas. One could theorize that European and North American countries are swinging sustainable energy for concern of the environment but that is not the situation with India and China. IMHO
Of course, of equal or greater concern is the obvious damage being done to our environment. It would be impossible to deny that the poison we are producing is not affecting earth's sustainability.
I am also a believer that part of the changing climate is a natural cycle involving what else, of course, the sun.
