Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, Jan 19, 2010 (Filing Services Canada via COMTEX News Network) --
Minaean International Corp. (MIB - TSX Venture)(NJA - FWB)(NJA - BSE), is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Minaean Power Structures Inc. (MPS), has been part of a LEED Gold Certification construction project via its involvement in the 6 storey Shaver Green building in Portland, Oregon. The certification is endowed to all contractors involved in the construction of the building for their use of environmentally friendly materials and construction methods.
Shaver Green has epitomized such practices and has been awarded the certification by the Green Building Certification Institute, the certification administration organization related to the US Green Building Council. This follows Shaver Green winning just a few weeks ago a 2009 AIA Design 'Built Citation Award'. This project has truly addressed the triple bottom line of people, planet, and prosperity by creating green and affordable, workforce housing. Total built-up area for this project is approximately 98,000 sq.ft.
Listed below are a few related achievements of the project which availed it a LEED GOLD Certification:
Construction and Material
* 95% construction waste recycling, avoiding 175 tons of waste from going to the landfill
* 48% of the construction materials were made from recycled materials
* 50% of the construction materials were sourced locally from less than 500 miles away
Since its inception, MPS has maintained its core competence in the supply and manufacture of light gauge steel wall panels, which, along with the Hambro steel joist floor decking system, form a steel superstructure of a building within weeks. This system is formally known as 'ArtisanTM Quik Build' as a product and offers various high efficiency qualities extending from a 'Green' building system to considerably low manufacturing costs for the developer. The prime niche for Artisan remains buildings ranging from four to eight stories wherein the system achieves the highest amount of cost effectiveness against wood, concrete and structural steel. It also gives a stout structure providing sustainability, high sound and fire ratings, comparatively very low building time and minimal waste on-site which is 100% recyclable. MPS has already completed five such projects in the state of Oregon, one of which was Shaver Green. It has also constructed a mixed use building in Vancouver, British Columbia.
