Short term increase has more to do with the relative value of other currencies and less with any fundamental dollar strength. Long term value for the dollar is only going down as the velocity of dollars in the system will inevitably increase with stimulus driven lending. The money supply has been expanded too much for this not to happen. An inflationary cycle will result, and gold and other hard assets will be the beneficiaries. Scarcity from rapid consumption by emerging market economies will add a multiplier effect. Patience, IMHO is the order of the day. The longview will be rewarded.
