As far as a stock like BNK is concerned, I think you can have it both ways: hold for longer term to perhaps it's eventual takeover, and trade from time to time to take advantage of the market S/P swings. I've learned from many past mistakes eg. Nortel, OIL, there is no sense being a hero about it. When it comes to your own investings, it's prudent to take profits by dabbling in sporadic trades sometimes.
