Hey DentonAbout that picture you so mastefully interpreted on the MKR board.  I think you forgot to mention that the company used a scanning far-field optical second-harmonic process mode to image the gold film surface which, covered with randomly distributed scatterers, recorded simultaneously images of the first (FH) and second harmonic (SH) signal in the wavelength range of 750-830 nm.
 
That is of particular significance, as we all know that the different densities of scatterers and thus the images showing localized enhancement would be in the form of small round bright spots that exhibited both wavelength and polarization dependences in their brightness.

One could therefore conclude that the overall behaviour of the observed phenomenon is related to the overlap of FH and SH eigenmodes.  This of course, is if you can copy and paste the right kind of sounding stuff from other websites.
