That's not to say that Canada should not be looking at private niche clinics (some provinces have already started this). I would support this. I'd rather see people paying for procedures locally by choice if that service is available than driving to buffalo.
Having said that ... Using this as arguments against a public health system are misguided. Also Obama trying to ram it through congress didn't do him any favours either. IT's all about education and you and your colleagues would be alot farther ahead listening and talking to each other than sticking to old ideals.
The world is not black and white. Free Enterprise and communism existed only in a text book. Everything else is somewhere in between.
I would rather have a system that costs more but ensures every citizen gets quality health care ... (at least the basics) without having to negotiate fees ... or insurance coverage.
