The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, March 4, edition that Medicago gave back a penny to finish Wednesday on the TSX Venture Exchange at 50 cents. The Globe's Shirley Won writes in the Eye On Equities column that Medicago stock has a one-year range of 15 cents to 86 cents. Beacon Securities analyst Sarah Chiasson says Medicago, focused on developing and producing pandemic and seasonal influenza vaccines, is positioned nicely to begin phase two clinical trials in the third quarter for its H5N1 vaccine candidate. The Beacon Securities stockpicker began new coverage on Medicago with a "speculative buy" rating. As well, Ms. Chiasson gave the shares a one-year target of 90 cents based on comparable companies. The Globe's Joanna Pachner reported on Dec. 9, 2008, that a deal with Philip Morris was lighting up Medicago's prospects. The shares were then trading at 15.5 cents.
