Kent gets first assays from Lyell project

TheCanadian explorer Kent Exploration Inc (TSX-V: KEX) has receivedencouraging assays from its second gold project on the West Coast ofNew Zealand’s South Island.
The company has received first pass grab samples and one chip samplefrom the Lyell gold project near Westport – a property that envelopesthe retained Lyell lease held by Auzex Resources Ltd (ASX: AZX).
Kent said the chip sample over 0.2 metres was taken from one of anumber of quartz veins exposed at the face of a crosscut and it assayed69.4 grams/tonne gold.
One grab sample assayed 13.7 g/t gold while another assayedanomalous gold at 0.27 g/t and the other two grab samples assayed lessthan 0.02 g/t gold.
Kent said the historic Red Queen mine on its ground had reportedproduction, according to reports filed with Crown Minerals, of mining2,208 tons for a recovered 3,104 oz at a grade of 44 g/t gold (1.41 oz)and with some bonanza grades going up to 5 oz/ton.
A Kent field team was able to locate the Lady Agnes, Swastika and Southern Lights Reef which are near the Red Queen.
“Visible gold was identified in quartz samples from the Red Queen,” the company said.
Kent Exploration undertook exploration on its Alexander River prospect near Reefton for positive early results.
The company also has an option agreement to earn the full interestof Teck Exploration at Chalice Gold Mines Ltd’s Gnaweed gold project inWestern Australia.
Kent has called a meeting of shareholders for April 30 in Vancouverand one of the issues is expected to be plans to list on the TSX-V ofArchean Star Resources Inc as the vehicle to take over the New Zealandand Australian gold projects.
