STE-FOY, QUEBEC--MR. ROLLAND VEILLEUX, President at ROBEX RESOURCES INC. is
pleased to announce that instructions have been given to ARTHUR ANDERSEN,
International Firm, Professional Services, to assist in the drawing up of a
business plan which will serve to finance the putting into production of
the baryte orebody situated at Upton, Quebec. This orebody contains
959,530 tons of proven reserve grading 46.5 % barium sulphate (BaS 04) and
1.9 % zinc (Les Consultants Ste-Foy Ltee, August 1988). This orebody is
exploitable by open pit methods.
ROBEX has at the same time instructed the firm URGEL DELISLE AND ASSOCIATES
INC. to present a request to the Quebec Protection Commission for
Agricultural lands with a view to developing the baryte orebody situated
within the municipal limits of Upton. Urgel Delisle and Associates Inc. is
a firm offering professional services pertaining to agricultural lands, the
environments, and forestry. It has among other things proceeded to seek
authorization and/or permits from the Quebec Protection Commission for
Agricultural lands and/or the Quebec Ministry of Environment.
These steps are part of the plan established by ROBEX with a view to
financing development of the baryte orebody. Baryte is used as a primary
material in the fabrication of a multitude of products. However, the vast
majority is used as drilling mud in exploration for gas and oil. The
recent price increase in crude oil has contributed to substantially
increased drilling activity.
The foregoing is subject to the approval of regulatory authorities.
