RE: OT: CSI tremendous success!

RE: OT: CSI tremendous success!I made good money on Bre-X.  I got edgy when their VP said that "we might only have the elephant by the tail" after they had already drilled off 70 million ozs.  By selling, I avoided the ensuing avalanche.  Too bad I wasn't so shrewd about Robert Friedland's First Dynasty Mines.  I own Friedland stocks today, but that experience taught me once and for all that Bob is working on his own behalf, not on mine.

During the giddy bull run of the '90s, mining frauds were so numerous and increasingly blatant that I half-expected someone to start a newsletter called Mining Fraud Monthly.  There was $ to be made in the scams if you sold pre-exposure.  I ended up making a bundle in  the '90s and then losing it when the AU market crashed.  I actually missed the tech bubble because I had no money to invest.  Later, improbably, I got all my cash back when the metals soared again, but I have since been careful not to be too overweight in my portfolio.

If the metals really roar and CSI goes to $50, with commentators predicting $200 and more, I hope we all remember to take some money off the table.   The recent fate of uranium stocks will one day be the fate of high-flying gold stocks.
