Who is: Executive of HJ becdach Inc., organizing marketing of the Expo mines 2010

Between the 23 and 25 of March next ones, the fair will be realised Expo Mines 2010. The third edition of this event will be fulfilled in the Sport Place Safe Constitution, to the north of Quito.

The fair will count on the participation of authorities of the mining sector, representing of private companies and expert nationals and foreigners in order to close businesses and of attracting. The executive who organizes the event, Hassan Becdach, spoke with Newspaper of Businesses on the exhibition.

In the event there will be conferences, on what subjects?

We will speak on social responsibility in the mining industry; the mining like factor of the regional development with a view to which the communities near the operation areas benefit with work places and the taxes which the different companies will pay, reason why this it is a fundamental topic. Other subjects are academic and the analyses on contracts of mining operation.

At what moment these subjects will be approached?

We have organized conferences and lunches of work, in which we looked for the conjunction of the state and deprived sector, to the benefit of this economic area. There, the companies will present in detail the technology that use in aspects of environmental responsibility. Also there will be a lunch with the different authorities from the area, like the ministers of Atmosphere, Natural Electricity, Industries and nonRenewable Resources.

What other exhibitors will participate in the Expo?
We will count on the presence of Robert Washer, CEO, Dynasty Metals & Mining; Francisco Costabal, president of the Council of Mining of Chile; Short, official Eduardo of the Division of Natural of the Cepal, the Ecuadorian economic expert, Walter Spurrier the Vice-president of the Republic, Brown Lenin, among others expository Resources.

Exactly what looks for with the fair?
More to obtain connection between State and companies prevailed, which could accelerate the process of renovation of the mining concessions since both parts will share the same hall, we looked for to congregate the miners that work in the country, those that they want to invest in the sector and those that look for permissions. Also, the idea is to attract the foreign investment Ecuador, because there are many international companies in investing his money in the country. Of this form, in the Expo Mines many contacts of businesses, sources of use and foreign investment will be generated.

Which have been the results in foreign investment obtained in the fairs of the previous years and which is the expectation for this year?

There have been cases of investments by more than $1 000 million, others of $700 million, Also, companies that have invested during several years and they have not been able to operate. There is the importance of which it again takes the mining in Ecuador.

Several companies have the permissions already to realise mining exploration outpost, how could be activated the process for other companies, through the fair?
We hope that - later of the fair the permissions fix more express, because Ecuador needs the foreign investment. This is necessary to watch worse from a technical point of view, since any company cannot make Mining, and responsibly; for that reason we are against all the unmannerliness in the sector.

What expectation is had for the fair with respect to visits? All the 120 citizens are invited to visit stands of the sample. 10 thousand invitations were emitted, of which we hoped that 7 000 people come. Everything is businesses, conferences and contacts, nothing is sold.

How it has gone to them with previous editions of the fair?
The one of 2008 it was very difficult, since one week before the fair, the Assembly of Montecristi suspended the mining operation; in second we had the participation of more than 50 companies, with skillful conferences and was successful. Every year the event will be more growing, will attract major foreign investment. For that reason this fair is promoted in countries like Canada, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela and Cuba, that are countries net miners, with that possibly settle down alliances to invest.

Which is the environmental proposal of the fair?
It is most important. The companies that do not take care of the atmosphere are better than they go away, for that reason they have gotten to be self-critical among them. Many years our country been has governed by the illegal mining and the Governments have not done anything, except the present one that yes has taken measures.

(JR)
