In order to achieve this objective, the total underlying notional value of these instruments and/or securities will typically not exceed two times the total assets of the ETF. As such, HOD employs absolute leverage.

Say for example you wanted to hold 5000 shares of HOD over the weekend you could buy 1000 shares of HOU as a hedge in case the market goes the opposite way that you believe it will.
