well, Im not sure what you mean schill?
wasnt the primary target below the seal zone where they stopped drilling? The well has multiple targets, but I think one of them was under the seal and that came in deeper than predicted and with more pressure.
If a formation is the primary target there could be multiple reservoir horizons within it and you dont necessarily need to drill into a new formation for rat hole, just need to get past the last reservoir horizon with enough overhole for logging/completion tools. The reason I dont think the over-pressure zone is due to a huge reservoir of oil is because the company has said it is the seal. The seal is what seals in a potential reservoir by being impermeable and sitting on top so oil cant migrate out (the old reservoir-trap-seal-migration deal). Maybe the formation under the seal has oil, who knows, but drilling into the seal would never tell you.
