RE: RE: RE: A little play with numbers

Looking at the Elk Mine release for Cline today that set that stock rising,  on the compliance report it states the quality of the coal reserves from the Elk Mine as follows:

Coal quality analysis performed by CF&I and subsequent operators show that the Allen and

Maxwell Seams are low-sulfur, metallurgical, grade A and B bituminous coals that can be also

used in thermal applications. Dolbear’s TR (Table 18.1) lists individual core hole float-sink

analysis that shows the coal will run between 5 percent (%) and 31.3% ash, with Free Swelling

Index (FSI) ranging between 1 and 8, and high fluidity (>29,000 dial divisions per minute [ddpm]).

The mining process will inherently blend the minimum and maximum limits. Dolbear’s TR

(Table 9.10) reports that the float-sink data indicates a FSI average of 5 and ash averages 10.4% to

12.9%. Washed heating values are expected to exceed 13,000 British thermal units (Btu)/pound

dry basis. All run-of-mine (ROM) coal produced will have to be washed. An idled coal

preparation plant is on site; however, it must be upgraded to be placed back in operation. The coal

seams have low to moderate phosphorous and alkali content.

Now, with the Bluegem seam soon to be drilled with NAG,   the Bluegem is a much higher quality than that reported in Clines as the Bluegem only yields a 3% ash content (more product burned and used in BTU emissions)  .65% sulfer and a range of 14,200-15,200 BTU.

I am dropping by an old friend's lab this week, which analyzes coal, with these reports and seeking his professional input as well of which I will post his comments for the board.

See you all at the $1 party!
