Mining cuts down trees and moves dirt around, it bulldozes gopher holes and for this there are people that crave that nature be not disturbed. They don't believe that things will go back to the way there were when mining is over and the gophers, birds etc will be silent for ever. Even though Klappan is far away from civilization and only used for camping there are opponents. I don't know if there is at this time any wiggle room or how much opposition there is. Negotiation towards a common goal works. Fortune doesn't say very much about Klappan these days other than how much coal is in the ground and they are willing to partner with someone.
