RE: RE: It was a long time comingI have no information (nor educated/uneducated guess) who they are working with in Europe for automotive manufacturers.
The Juniper engine is a Hyundai base engine, with an expected market in the "industrial sector"; meaning forklifts, floor sweepers, skid steer machines (possibly), and they have also spoken about compressors. The "inference" is that it is going into a wide range of equipment, but unless I saw brochures first hand, I would not believe anything anyone told me... including the company. I don't expect that they will ever recoup their cost of R&D, production, and associated expenses, let alone realize any meaningful profit.
So basically, I treat all Westport activities regarding sub 250hp engines as pure fantasy... I don't expect they will ever develop any marketable product (for wide range use) in any significant number to have made the effort worth while. However, I challenge Westport to prove me wrong.
This "secret European automotive partner" has been so long in the WPT grist mill that I see it as simply another carrot on the end of a stick. To be honest, the whole story kind of makes me sick every time it comes up again. (*Rolls eyes*) Personally, I think it is legal "horse-litter-ature and I'm not mule headed enough to follow along with that story any longer... thats not to say that it isn't true, but c'mon already!
