The Funds secondary investment objective is capital appreciation The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objectives by investing at least 80% of its managed assets (i.e., net assets plus assets obtained through leverage) in a portfolio of preferred and other income securities issued by U.S. and non-U.S. companies, which may be either exchange-traded or available over-the-counter. In pursuing its investment objectives, the Fund seeks to achieve favorable after-tax returns for its shareholders by seeking to minimize the U.S. federal income tax consequences on income generated by the Fund. There can be no assurance that the Fund will achieve its investment objectives.

RE: RE: Potential MergerThere is no way PTV will merge into PTA at PTV's current price level.   PTV is about a year and 1/2 ahead of PTA in the exploration / development of its interests and is just coming online;    The goal there is to make it work and get a couple / few dollars per share out of it.
PTA does have the right to buy up to 44% of PTV via warrants at 30 cents.   As the PTV story continues to unfold, watch for PTA to exercise (and thus further fund PTV"s growth)
I own both stocks;  PTV is way smaller and less diversified but further along the developemental process and the great newsstream is coming.    Also, check out PTV's management.  Very solid
