Play LA Inc.Play LA to enter French online gambling market with new website after country legalizes betting
Play LA (OTCBB: PLLAF) is entering the French online gambling market, having started the development of a new French facing sports news website to provide information for sports betters in that country.
The new website will publish news, commentary, player profiles, match odds, statistics and betting tips for the most popular sports in France.
The company moved to develop the new online resource after the French National Assembly voted to legalize online gambling with France aiming to collect €5 billion in taxes form the gambling industry annually.
The bill is expected to be approved by the European Union and France’s Supreme Court shortly, enabling the government to grant gambling licenses to international operators ahead of the upcoming World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
“This new development follows our strategy of moving into new markets that are regulating online gaming. Many of our existing advertisers are establishing their business presence in France already, giving us a built-in client base the day our website goes live,” said Chief Executive of Play LA David Hallonquist.
The new website will increase the company’s existing network to twenty websites upon its launch.
Last month, Play LA announced the acquisition of Arsenal-mania.com, a leading football fan website dedicated to Arsenal FC, one of the UK Premiership’s top football clubs.
Play LA, which was listed on the OTCBB market in the United States in March 2009, business strategy is to generate revenues through models, such as pay-per-click (based on how many users click on an ad) as well as variations such as pay-per-impression, pay-per-lead, pay-per real-money player and flat rate models for advertisers.
By increasing the size and scale of its existing network of websites, Play LA aims to acquire critical mass and accelerate growth in the long-term.
