Soros moves markets. Shares of Hana Mining catapulted on new analyst coverage and reports that high-profile investor George
Soros bought a 7.85% stake in neighbouring Australian-listed Discovery Metals. Citing "sources", the Metal Bulletin reported,
"The legendary market speculator, best known as the man who broke the Bank of England, bought 21,237,428 ordinary shares
in the junior miner after it announced last week that its resources in Botswana were much higher than previously thought." With
this news hitting the wires, investors have raced to buy into the next-best play. "Area or closeology plays" are other companies
with land/projects adjacent or close to the company (project) that has just made a big discovery or has been the target of a
takeover. Like clockwork, whenever a junior mining company is the subject of a takeover bid, investors began the hunt for who
else is in the area. Hana’s Ghanzi copper silver project is located in the centre of the Kalahari copper belt in northwestern
Botswana. In June 2009, Hana released its first NI 43-101 resource estimate announcing an inferred resource of 2.0 billion lb of
copper and 34.9 million oz of silver from 60.4 million tonnes. The company is currently focusing its drilling and development
efforts on the Banana Zone, which represents 40.7 million tonnes of this total resource (67%).
