Institutional Buying

Institutional BuyingSeems to be steady support here from institutional buyers such as Jitney, MGI, M Partners, ITG, and Cormark.

I've just noticed some buying from Pollitt this morning which I hadn't noticed before but may have missed. I wasn't familiar with this firm but found this interesting note in yesterday's Globe and Mail:

Pollitt adds rookie talent

Andrew Willis

Employee-owned dealer Pollitt & Co. deepened the ranks last week, in part by giving new talent a shot on its equity sales desk.

Pollitt hired former investment banking associate Mike Graham from Thomas Weisel Partners, and mining research associate Andrew Thompson from Macquarie. Both are now on the desk pitching stocks.

In the research department, Pollitt welcomed Corey Dias, who was a special situations analyst at M Partners, and Kelvin Cheung, who was covering industrial companies and fertilizer plays at National Bank Financial.

Interesting in that M Partners is one of the firms providing analyst coverage for Volta so Corey Dias would be familiar with Volta's name (I would think), not sure whether T. Weisel or Macquarie have been past buyers.

Coincidence that Dias moves over from M Partners and the next day Pollitt is buying??? Pollitt states on their website that they owe their strong track record to a "clear macroeconomic view which we use to guide us to sectors and companies other investors may have overlooked." That would be Volta... Food for thought on a slow day.

Cheers!
