Mr. Paul Leung reports
EMPOWER TECHNOLOGIES SIGNED THREE YEAR SUPPLY AGREEMENT WITH INFLIGHT CANADA
Empower Technologies Corp. has signed a customization and three-year supply agreement with Inflight Canada Inc. (IFC), a Montreal-based company. IFC has been operating in the commercial aviation cabin systems business since 1976, and is an experienced integration, installation and maintenance services organization. IFC is licensed to provide maintenance services by Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA), by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), through the bilateral agreement between the United States and Canada, and by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Under the agreement, Empower will customize and develop a key electronic subassembly and software application based on Empower's SBC6446 single-board computer, using Empower's LEOS (Linux-embedded operating system) and the proprietary Empower Media Player application. The customized subassembly also integrates IFC's proprietary designs and aircraft applications. Empower has delivered the first working prototype to IFC to assemble into a full aircraft demo system to be exhibited in the upcoming Aircraft Interiors Expo tradeshow in Hamburg, Germany, on May 18 to 20, 2010. The fully developed and tested production-ready subassembly will be available by the third quarter of 2010, for delivery to IFC for integration into the IFC aircraft design for airworthiness certification and assembly into IFC production unit. The fully tested and certified IFC production unit will then be qualified for use in both private and commercial aviation.
Empower has been selected by its customer for its collection of in-house IP (intellectual property) core technologies in GPS and navigation technologies, wireless communications, multimedia technologies, and powerful embedded hardware and operating system platforms, as well as its very strong Canadian-based multidiscipline research and development, and engineering team, that covers hardware/firmware/software design and development, and manufacturing, all under one roof in Canada.
