Bent drillstring?

Bent drillstring?I have never heard of this problem, a bent piece of the drill string is stuck in the mast. If thats the problem with the well, is it necessary to bring in well control specialists ?  My son in law the driller says if thats the case it should be a quicker, less expensive fix than downhole problems like fishing for pipe. Wonder if it bent on a gas kick or on a dogleg from the sidetrack. Hmmmmm 30 days is the expected time for the fix, it sounds worse than bent pipe in the mast. Just my uneducated musings.
