RE: Every one hang in there

RE: Every one hang in thereshilajew,   You're right that the massive spill in the Gulf of Mexico IS huge but you're wrong about it being President Reagan's fault.  Under President Clinton oil companies were encouraged to drill in deep waters [ even though we didn't have the technology in event of a massive spill] and were exempted from a 15% royalty tax which was a HUGE windfall to ALL of the oil companies.   Another culprit was the radical environmental movement which made it near impossible to drill in shallow waters where we DO have the technology in the event of a massive spill.   There is a third culprit, the MMS who has responsibility for both collecting the revenues for the federal government AND making sure the rigs were up to snuff when it came to safety.  Since the government was making little/no royalty money on the deep rigs they didn't give them the scrutiny they  should have resulting in this disaster.   Evidently the boys at the MMS were too busy watching porn on their computers [that WE pay for] and not enough time to do their jobs.  Stupid is as stupid does.   I would have to say that BP is also responsible but they were drilling where they're allowed to.  That is their business, after all, but the government was foolish to allow drilling where it's impossible to fix a problem and the environmentalists don't like ANY drilling and pretty much forced drilling offshore into deep waters.  I'm tempted to say they hoped a disaster would happen as I think many are pleased but the fact is THEY created the environment that led to deep water drilling.  Had this been in shallow water it would have been fixed within a couple of days.
