RE: The "war"
RE: The "war"JohnEStromJr,
Your post involves two topics. I'll answer the first at this time.
You say "Yours is a war that will never be won". There is some wisdom in the saying "never say never", but I'll go beyond that.
When making a statement assuming that you are fully informed, you often come to the wrong conclusion, when in fact you are much less than fully informed. You have described the circumstances I depicted as "..the war going on between you and a handful of ISM people." What I referred to involves more than me on the one side; and your description of "a handful of ISM people" is too vague and restrictive to describe the other side. What's involved goes beyond the chat room exchanges you are privy to, and the decision of whether there is a winner or loser will come in different arenas than a straw poll in a chat room thread. I'd also mention that some participants on these forums are already aware of some "battles" that have been won.
As I said, I have some hope that the activities involved will not escape legal remedy and public scrutiny. If this happens, you may find that what you call lame now, might be classed as worthwhile perseverance, even in your opinion. Just as you now find that your decision to use the Royal "we", based on your belief that no one disagreed with you, was presumptuous. I agree with westernkid, that the time is never "long since gone" for speaking against an abuse. I only wish that more people would take a firmer stand on accountability for abuse in the public markets and corporations. The reaction that its not a problem if it doesn't inconvenience me or deplete my wallet is not realistic - the consequences of allowing the abuses prevalent in public companies, the public market and financial community is horrendous. Shrugging off this behaviour in a single company, because you're happy (at the time) with share price performance is very short-sighted - usually in the company, and also in general.
