IDGA's Military Vehicles Exhibition & ConferenceGeneral Dynamics Land Systems will display two of their vehicles, the Advanced Ground Mobility Vehicle (AGMV) and the Electric Drive Stryker (E-Drive Stryker), at IDGA's Military Vehicles Exhibition & Conference taking place August 11-12, 2010 at COBO Center in Detroit, MI. The event is the largest stand-alone military ground vehicles exhibition in the United States.
The Advanced Ground Mobility Vehicle (AGMV) is a Hybrid Capable, In-Hub Series Electric Drive Vehicle with a curb weight of 8,800 lbs and a GVW of 16,000 lbs. The AGMV provides a reduced expeditionary force footprint and increased capability through:
-- Mobile C2 Vehicle -- platoon through Bn.
-- Mobile power generation kit with up to 30kw supplementing and/or replacing trailer/sled mounted generators.
The AGMV provides exceptional mobility, speed, stealth, payload capability, and operational range in a helicopter internally transportable package. The Hybrid overlay provides extended silent watch (10+hours) and silent movement (~6 miles on level terrain). The AGMV accepts a modular armor package allowing the operator to determine the level of protection for each mission.
The Electric Drive Stryker (E-Drive Stryker) was driven for the first time on December 23rd 2009, marking a successful end to the first phase of a two phased Internal Research and Development project executed at the GDLS Technical Center. This technology
initiative leveraged the existing architecture and hardware of the Advanced Hybrid Electric Drive (AHED) vehicle, developed by GDLS from 1999 to 2007, and focused on adapting the hardware to a Stryker Platform. The conventional mechanical transmission to wheel-end drivetrain was replaced with an Electric Drive system. With the optional Li-Ion batteries the E-Drive Stryker has the ability to run in 3 modes, Diesel Electric (Engine power only), Hybrid Electric (Diesel Engine and Battery), and Battery Only (Li-Ion battery power only). This technology provides considerable benefits over conventional drive configurations, such as: Silent On-The-Move Operation; Increased Silent Watch Duration; Improved Fuel Consumption; Increased Exportable Electric Power; Design Flexibility; Increased Internal Volume; Independent Wheel Control for Increased Off-Road Mobility; Integration Flexibility For Hardware And Payload; Greater Reliability, and Multiple Independent Motors
provide continued mobility in degraded operation. Currently the vehicle operates in all three modes and is being readied for internal testing and future enhancements.
Other organizations displaying vehicles at IDGA's Military Vehicles Exhibition & Conference include Force Protection, Textron Marine & Land Systems, AM General, Critical Solutions International, and the US Marine Corps Program Manager's Office for Light Armored Vehicles. In addition, there will be over 250 companies showcasing products in tires, armor, seats, paint, glass, engines
