ELKO - Former Jerritt Canyon Mine employees who started a class action lawsuit against Queenstake Resources USA will meet with the company's representatives in a settlement conference Friday in federal court in Reno.
"This will be the first settlement conference we've had in this case, and it's been almost two years since they were laid off," said Elko lawyer Travis Gerber, who represents the laid-off employees who sued for owed severance pay and unpaid medical bills.
"We are keen to get this settled," Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Baldock said Tuesday.
"The employees have been waiting a long time. We made an attempt back in December to settle but didn't get a response back. We're hoping we will settle this time."
