That being said, I still can't figure out why they would try to merge the two now. the only thing that does seem to be clicking for me is that the last time this possibility was raised, Vast was supposed to be drilling around the same time (well was to be spud in December). It seems to me that when they pushed the spud date back 4 months they also quit talking about merging the two companies until now. Curious.
I'll throw one out there to consider. Do they want to merge the two, in hopes of adding to the shareholder base? Would this help prevent Vast from being scooped up cheaper than they are hoping for? Maybe they can get more value for it a year down the road, as it is taking a really long time to get a new government in place in Iraq. There will continue to be uncertainty in these plays as long as no one knows who they will be dealing with for the next few years. Thoughts?
I believe Niko just bought Black Gold, a partner of theirs. Anybody know how far along that dicsovery was?
