The old Cap story

The old Cap storyNo wonder those old wolverines live away out there where no one else wants to be, man they stink they will eat there own sheet if nothing else is available. I got on the old Yamaha and started heading towards the spot Cap told me about, no sooner did I get started and I hit a river that was moving pretty quick and it was wide. The only way I could get across was  to get off the motorcycle and push it through the current, the hardest thing was to keep on my feet the slippery rocks and rushing water just about got the best of me a few times. Man when I reached the other side I was whooped big time.
The good thing was it looked like the last river I would have to cross. Remember I'm on a street bike not one of these new off road machines. It was like a 1975 250 Yamaha.
I was traveling along this valley floor with mountains on each side capped with glaciers. My mind starting playing tricks on me that I was too early and the spot Cap talked about would be covered in snow.
On I went through the valley of wolverine, the road started getting steep all of a sudden leaving the valley floor behind like a fading dream carrying me towards the silver lined clouds. I just started thinking man this hill is getting to steep, no sooner did the thought hit my mind the front tire hit a rock and off the bike I went, someone must have been looking after me because myself and the bike ended up in good shape. I left the bike and walked to the crest of the hill only to see snow at these high elevations. The best thing was in the distance where the snow was melted off the hill tops the ground had that mineral rich stained outcrops. There was no way I could walk it and get out of there by night fall, I never came prepared to stay the night. My big problem now was just trying to get out of there before night fall and how was I going to get the motorcycle down that hill.
Somehow I don't know how but I managed to get off that hill back across the river and get back to the main road and in the sanction of my truck.
Once at home we started talking helicopter to stake the claim in those days the rate was $500 per hour doesn't sound like much but in those days it was a lot.
To be continued the heli trip by the way this is in the Smithers district.
