Jerritt Canyon at steady state production

ELKO - Yukon-Nevada Gold Corp. today reported the Jerritt Canyon Mine north of Elko has reached a steady state of gold production after a major overhaul of the mill.
Chief Operating Officer Graham Dickson confirmed that "subsequent to re-start, the company has produced for the month of July a total of 8,500 ounces of gold with part of the tertiary crusher line down, under less than optimum operating conditions.
"It is confidently expected that a rate of 12,500 ounces of gold per month is more than sustainable on an ongoing basis," he said.
Yukon-Nevada President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Baldock said the steady state since the maintenance shutdown demonstrates the ability of the Jerritt Canyon operation to produce an annualized rate of 150,000 ounces of gold.
The mill was shut down in May, but the work was more than routine, he said in the announcement. The tasks included decommissioning the thickener and completely overhauling it, replacing the first of its two quench tanks, and other plant and equipment upgrades.
Yukon-Nevada reported the overhaul pointed out the need to replace one of the two tertiary cone crushers, but it wasn't possible to replace or repair it in time for the mill start up, so the plant operated with only one crusher while a replacement was installed and commissioned.
Jerritt Canyon currently is producing gold from stockpiles and the Smith underground mine.
