Strategy Moving Forward....Brand new US Army tactical wheeled strategy just released...
Looks like the Congress and US Army are starting to get on the same page in regards to laying out strategy direction and priorities and a balanced view. More refreshing than the infighting and heated comments via the media by Marines, Congress etc. IMO, this may set the tone for both Government and Army to finally back some funding and decisions for the Humvee Recap program and to fill the gap before JLTV, now that a strategy as been laid out.

"The U.S. Army has released its tactical wheeled vehicle acquisition strategy report to Congress, calling for a tailorable approach to vehicle procurement to include new buys and repair, sustainment and recapitalization of the existing fleet."
"The acquisition strategy lays out a roadmap for tactical wheeled vehicles, including the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected, or MRAP, vehicles from 2010 through 2025."
"For instance, the report calls for sustainment and recapitalization of 50,000 up-armored Humvees and the progressive divestiture of up to 50,000 aging Humvees -- to be incrementally replaced by the new Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, or JLTV."
Another intetresting find courtesy of the Dept of Defense, Inspector General:
Recapitalization and Acquistion of Light Tactical Wheeled Vehicles. This was released Jan 29, 2010, marked "Secret" to be declassified on October 19, 2030. More information for congress to continue with the Humvee Recap program. Significant backing of the Humvee Recap program and noting significantly improved crew survivability.
