Another Interesting Read....I found this declassified DOD Inspector General Report (Nov 2009) titled "
Using System Threat Assessments in the Acquisition of Tactical Wheeled Vehicles".
Interesting read since it provides some background into the system threats to the US Army's Tactical Wheeled Vehicles and the military response with add-on armor kits, and numbers deployed etc prior to Cymat involvement. So kind of a chronological view of army's response to system threats by modifying existing contracts to get technology to mitigate system threats to vehicles.
Basically, this report is all about congress wanting to check up on the US Army's response to system threats to determine whether the Army and Marine Corps program offices updated program documentation for selected tactical wheeled vehicles, including contracts, test plans, and system capability documents, in response to threats identified in current system threat assessments.
Just shows you how much the system threats have changed things dramatically in a few short years and have opened the doors for new technology such as Cymat SmartMetal (TM) to play a part in the future mitigation of system threats to vehicles and greatly enhance crew protection.
