RE: RE: RE: RE: Proactive

RE: RE: RE: RE: ProactiveThe minister asked about cancer. Expert talked about how the region is no different statistically then the rest of the province. Same as Saskatchewan, the stats are in line with everywhere else. A Cree chief in Saskatchewan said they have no health issues with uranium, but don't like the tar sands. The minister asked what problems could occur? Marc Simpson, he did a great job trying to talk to them in French, kudos to him.

Deputy minister asked how to get concensus when both parties are completely divided. Our guy said they just need information, and not to look at bad experiences from decades ago and use that for fear mongering. Use science, current science and experience to inform with facts.
The mayor of sept isles i believe is against it and testified prior to uracan.
He said that the doctors in sept isles are no doubt great doctors, but they're talking about something that they don't know about, not their expertise. Get the expert medical doctors to comment on it.
A public debate was suggested by the deputy minister. The experts are not part of Uracan, they are objective, and I think he said bring them to a public debate, any time, we'll be armed with facts.
He said don't be like BC, and don't scare off venture capital money for the quebec mining sector. He pointed out that uracan is considered risky by analysts because of this issue, and it affects all of quebec mining companies and they're venture capital.
A chick deputy said that Uracan seesm to be a good corporate neighbour, not like Terra (they don't like Terra), but they're arrival still disturbed things.
She asked if they don't get public acceptance, will they pack their bags and go? OH, the 8 years is the exploration contract. Got it now. He didn't answer that question, just said that they have the support of some.  She asked again, and he said that they have the facts, and they'll give jobs.
Some deputy from mercier just asked how much he's paid to discredit mayors and other doctors. Wow. What an idiot. He thinks Uracan is paying lobbyists. A little yelling and controversy here at the end. Entertaining. The minister is pissed!!!
